§ 2-16. Organizational meeting and council administrative assignments

(a) Town council may fix the date and time of its organizational meeting which may be held at any time after the results of the municipal election have been officially determined and published pursuant to Subchapter IX of Chapter 163 of the General Statutes but not later than the date and time of the first regular meeting of the council in December after the results of the municipal election have been certified. If the council fails to fix the date and time of its organizational meeting, then the meeting shall be held on the date and at the time of the first regular meeting in December after the results of the municipal election have been certified pursuant to Subchapter IX of Chapter 163 of the General Statutes.

(b) The mayor elect shall have the authority to designate administrative assignments among the members of the town council taking into consideration the qualifications, experience and skills of each council member to serve in their particular assignment after having conferred with the town council and council elect for their advice and consent to assure a smooth transition of governmental duties.
