§ 18-54. Painting on the names and numbers

  • (a) Every taxicab operated within the town shall have the name of the owner legibly painted on each side of the taxicab and on the rear, and the number assigned by the owner. The lettering shall be painted upon the cab at the locations provided and be at least two and one-half (2½) inches high and spaced at least one (1) inch apart. If the taxicab is being operated by a lessee, the name of the lessee shall be prominently displayed on or inside such taxicab.

    (b) The numbering and painting of letters and names as provided in this section shall be considered a condition precedent to the operation of any taxicab within the town. No such taxicab shall be operated in taxicab service or for hire until the same has been marked, numbered and lettered as required by this section.
